The David Rockefeller Award is awarded by MoMA to a patron of the arts every year. Harry Allen Studio was given the opportunity to redesign the award itself. The project calls for a highly conceptual idea, full of meaning. Below are my contributions in concept, rendering, or both.
"Buildings" concept
This is the concept chosen by MoMA. I genericized the forms of the Manhattan campus, and specified materials that can be found throughout the institution (wood from the floors, glass from the windows, steel from the architecture, concrete from the courtyard)
"Buildings" concept
"Blend" concept
Make the award personal by blending the word MoMA into the recipient's first name. Concept would be realized through 3D printing.
"Convergence" concept
Two parts converge into one, representing the joint relationship between cultural institutions and their patrons.
"Reflect" concept
This is a visual reference to the aesethetic of the MoMA banners protruding from the exterior wall of MoMA, facing 53rd St.
